First Visit FAQs

What should I expect for my first time at PCC?

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never been to church, I haven’t been to church in a long time, or I regularly attend church but not this church. Will I feel out of place?

It’s completely normal to have this question – most of us have wondered the same at some point! But our prayer is truly that you never feel out of place at PCC. Our congregation includes a wide mix of backgrounds, ages, and experiences – there is no “church mold” to fit into. You’ll be welcomed from the moment you step through the doors, and our volunteers are ready to help you find your way, answer questions, or simply let you be a “fly on the wall” if that’s your preference.

What should I wear to church?

Come as you are – we have a very casual dress code! While we ask that attire is appropriate for a worship atmosphere, you’ll see folks in anything from jeans and t-shirts to dress clothes and everything in between! (As a matter of fact, most days you’ll see our pastors in jeans!)

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No need to bring anything! You are welcome to bring your own Bible, but extra Bibles are also available on the back side of each pew (and even take home with you to keep if you’d like!). Bible verses from the message are also displayed on screen during the message.

What time should I arrive?

Sunday church service begins at 9:30am. For your first visit, we recommend you arrive about 10-15 minutes early to grab a coffee and get oriented with a quick “lay of the land” from our First Impressions Team before grabbing a seat.

Where do I park and enter?

We have open parking (no parking attendants), so you are welcome to park anywhere in the lot. There are a few handicapped parking spots near the main entrance. Walk up to the glass set of doors on the north side of the building where you’ll be greeted by members of our First Impressions Team.

What do I do once I’m in the building?

We have a team of church members that serve on our First Impressions Team each week – we are your guest services assistants for your first visit! The greeter at the front door will be handing out weekly bulletins which include church information, upcoming events, and an outline for the pastor’s message that week with room to make your own notes during the message if you’d like. You’ll be introduced to another member of our First Impressions team that can give you a quick tour of where the coffee, restrooms, and sanctuary are and to help families check kids into our kids “Haven” classrooms.

Where do I sit?

We have open seating! You’re welcome to sit anywhere throughout the sanctuary. Our First Impressions Team can help you find a seat if you are unsure or link you up with any friends or family you may want to sit with who attend PCC.

How long is the service?

Our Sunday morning service typically runs for about an hour (9:30-10:30am). If you’d like to attend one of our Sunday school classes after service, they run from 10:45-11:30am.

What is the worship like?

We have a worship band with guitars and drums that leads our congregation in a mix of modern and traditional worship music. Words to the songs are on big screens above the stage so you can sing along.

What happens during the service?

A typical service begins with a friendly greeting from our worship leader and a few songs led by our worship team. We take communion as a church body every week (more on that below), and then the pastor gives a Bible-based message. Service ends with another song and an opportunity for anyone with a prayer need to come down to the area just beneath the stage and pray with our church leadership.

Will I be singled out during service?

We put a lot of thought into treating guests like we wanted to be treated when we walked into PCC for the first time, which means making visitors feel as comfortable as possible. We want to reassure guests that at no point will you be singled out, asked to stand, etc.

That said, we’d love to follow-up with you after service! It means a lot to us if you can jot down your name and phone number on one of our guest cards and hand it to a First Impressions member at the door as you leave.  We’d love to shoot you a quick call or text to thank you for coming and find out if you have any questions. There is also a QR code on the front of the weekly bulletin where you can fill that information out electronically. We do not share or sell this information – it’s truly just so we can informally check in with you after your visit!

Do you take communion? Who can participate?

Yes, we take communion each week as a meaningful part of our worship. In our church, communion is for baptized believers—those who have placed their faith in Jesus and have publicly identified with Him through baptism. If that’s you, you’re welcome to join us when we share the bread and cup. Communion cups are available in the foyer to grab before you take a seat.

If you’re still exploring faith or haven’t taken that step yet, you’re welcome to simply observe or pray in your seat during this time as the worship team plays a song. We’re glad you’re here, and we’d love to talk with you about baptism and what following Jesus looks like.

Do you collect an offering?

We do not pass an offering plate during service, but we do have offering boxes set out in the lobby. However, visitors are not expected to give.
